Favorable Economic Outlook for 2026 Touted as Fed Cuts Rates

After plowing through an extended drought of official statistics because of the government shutdown, the Federal Reserve cut interest rates by a quarter point for the third consecutive meeting, landing at a target range of 3.5% to 3.75%.

New orders of metalworking machinery totaled $437.9 million in November 2025. This represented a 19.6% decrease from October and nearly equaled the orders in November 2024. Orders through November 2025 have increased 17.8% over the first 11 months of 2024.
