Get ready to release some sweet, sweet endorphins for this special edition of the Miles for Manufacturing 5K!

One of our favorite community-building events we host is the Miles for Manufacturing 5K Run/Walk (M4M), sponsored by IMTS. But like many other group-focused activities, we’ve had to adapt to current conditions. While we can’t all gather to run a 5K in Chicago, we still wanted to show our community spirit and remind everyone that we’re still committed to supporting students and the next generation of manufacturing. So with your safety in mind, we’re very excited to announce a uniquely fun and engaging version of the 5K: M4M In Your Community, held Oct. 12-16, 2020!

You can still run or walk a 5K if you want to – that’s great! Or maybe you want to ride your bike an equal distance… Or pull your kids around the block in a wagon a few times… Or walk around your factory each day of the week. The point is to get out and move. Make it fun! Do it alone or include your coworkers, your family, your classmates, or your pets. Form a team and see what kind of crazy costume you can come up with! Maybe you’ve been looking for an excuse to complete your route while juggling, wearing a tutu, or playing a kazoo – here’s your chance. The weirder, the better!

We won’t be recording your times, but we’d love to hear from you and see pictures and videos of what you or your team did. So head over to the Smartforce Miles for Manufacturing page for more details in the weeks ahead and to learn how, where, and when to upload your images.

The M4M was first run during IMTS 2014. Since then, it has been held 10 times around the country and has raised more than $95,000! The IMTS tradeshow pays all of the hard costs of producing the M4M, so every single dollar raised has been awarded to schools and programs that prepare kids and students for careers in manufacturing technology. So check out our sponsors – or become a sponsor yourself! You can call Bill Herman, AMT Director of Sponsorship, for more information at 301-996-9910 or email him at bherman@AMTonline.org.

We can’t wait to see how you’ll bring the M4M to life in your community!
