Taken as a whole, they would be #8 in the world in consumption. - On average, 25% of the region’s GDP is focused on manufacturing. - Amidst geopolitical tensions, the shift of supply chains has resulted in a significant increase in foreign investments in Southeast Asia.

More About the Southeast Asian Markets

- The needs of the metal cutting industries in Southeast Asia is comparable to  the USA. Due to a shortage of skilled workers, companies require automation and top tier machines, tooling, and accessories to manufacture higher-value components. - Indonesia and Thailand combine to produce 3.3M automobiles per year and rank in the world’s top 15 producers. - Indonesia (8M units), Thailand (3M units), and Vietnam (4M units) are all amongst the world’s Top 5 producers of motorcycles.

- Vietnam is the fastest growing economy in the region with Y2025 GPD forecasts at 7 to 8%. Last year FDI disbursements topped $25B. Major investments include aerospace, automotive, electronics, semiconductor industries. American presence includes Apple, Boeing, Ford, GE, Intel, and Nike. - Malaysia, known as “The Silicon Valley of the East” continues to see strong investment in the semiconductor market. In 2024, Malaysia received over $20B in FDI.
