Vektek Wins AMT Member Campaign

Paying Dues Pays off for Controller

As a CPA and Controller, Lori Krueger hates not to pay bills on time. She works in the Kansas town of Emporia (pop. 24,428) for Vektek LLC, a 115-person manufacturer of precision clamping systems and components for the automotive, heavy equipment, machine tool, aerospace, and other industries. Not the gambling type, Lori “doesn’t win a whole lot of any anything.”

Then the chair arrived, all because Lori paid Vektek’s membership renewal with AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology.

Lori didn’t just win any chair, but a Herman Miller X Logitech G Embody Gaming Chair. Retailing at a price on par with Kansas prime steak for a party of 12, this chair features a multitude of adjustment points to fit your body just right – and it couldn’t have been more perfect for Lori.

“People don’t understand how long a controller sits in a chair. I work 12-hour days, and sometimes I can’t even get up and walk comfortably,” she says. “The prize package that AMT offered as an incentive for renewal perfectively pertained to my everyday life. Not only was it thoughtful, it was a welcome surprise.”

Membership Perks

The 2021 AMT membership renewal cycle opened in October 2020. Each year, AMT offers members an incentive to be entered into a raffle if they pay their dues by December 31. A random number generator selected Vektek, and the company won an office package valued at $6,000. The package included:

  • Noise cancelling headphones by Bose

  • Webcam/ring light combo by Razer

  • The ultimate home office chair by designing icon Herman Miller

  • An ultrawide monitor from Acer

  • One complimentary AMT product/service; Vektek selected to attend the MFG and MTForecast event, which will be held November 2-5, 2021, in Denver

“Everyone in the company checked out the chair when we unboxed it,” says Lori (view video). “People took turns stealing the chair from each other and moving it around the company. I’m happy I got to keep the chair and the webcam, but Michelle, our IT person, said, ‘By God, I’m claiming that ultrawide monitor!’ because she always wanted one.”

Vektek has been an AMT member since 1998 and took advantage of many AMT International services as the company expanded into Mexico, China, and other international markets. These include recommending business attorneys, exhibiting at AMT international pavilions at key trade shows, and cost-effectively hiring local employees with a proxy-hire service.

“Even though we’re up and running in Mexico, I still go back to our AMT contact when I need help with things like finding legal services,” says Lori. “If you pick an attorney off a website, who knows what you’re going to get? I trust AMT to connect me to the right people."
