IMTS 2024 Investor Forum: A Treasure Map for Investing in Manufacturing

Aug 05, 2024

The U.S. manufacturing technology industry is currently experiencing a transformative boom, with an estimated worth exceeding $65 billion. This surge is driven by strategic industrial policies like the CHIPS Act and heightened initiatives from the Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Energy (DoE). These governmental actions, coupled with a renewed national focus on domestic manufacturing and cutting-edge technologies, are creating unprecedented opportunities for savvy investors. The IMTS 2024 Investor Forum, presented by AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology, is your gateway to navigating this dynamic landscape. Join us on Sept. 10-11, at McCormick Place, in Chicago, to uncover the insights and connections essential for capitalizing on the future of manufacturing technology.

Plotting a course The IMTS Investor Forum is held in conjunction with IMTS – The International Manufacturing Technology Show, the largest show of its kind in the Western Hemisphere. The forum provides investors with valuable context and perspective to make more informed decisions. This includes market data, industry trends such as the steady growth of small and medium-sized contract manufacturing, and the most promising technologies — including additive manufacturing, automation, machine tools, and software.  “Investors are learning more about the opportunities in the manufacturing industry, but they are not often familiar with the unique complexities and risks of this tremendously large sector,” says Ryan Kelly, general manager of the AMT San Francisco Tech Lab. “The IMTS Investor Forum provides a treasure map to navigate the challenges and opportunities in the manufacturing landscape.”   The Forum includes:

  • Curated tours of the IMTS trade show floor where visitors can engage directly with top industry leaders and innovators.

  • Full access to the IMTS Exhibit Halls, which include nearly 1,700 exhibitors covering 1.2 million square feet.

  • Insightful presentations from manufacturing technology experts with one-on-one time for Q&A and an update of the government activities spurring investment.

  • Lunch, light snacks, and an invitation-only evening reception offer ample opportunities to develop high-value professional connections.

“Given Schematic Ventures' focus on manufacturing, IMTS is always a 'must attend' event,” says Julian Counihan, general partner at venture capital fund Schematic Ventures . “The IMTS Investor Forum is a fantastic starting point, highlighting the key technologies and trends in manufacturing and facilitating introductions to companies throughout the conference.”

Surveying the territory In the Forum’s educational sessions, manufacturers will share perspectives on how they evaluate emerging technologies and address the challenges of marketing industrial technology. Seasoned leaders will discuss the lessons they learned engaging with private equity firms and taking their companies to the next stage of growth.   High-impact presentations and panel discussions at the IMTS Investor Forum include:
