Machinery orders in the first quarter of 2026 fell 11.2% from the historically high last quarter of 2025 but are still at elevated levels compared to the first quarter of 2025. Demand for workholding has predictably increased along with that demand, but cutting tool usage has not kept pace with demand for machinery like it did prior to the 2020 COVID recession.
