A Big Week for Economic News

Last week had two big economic announcements that signaled the continued strength of the U.S. economy. On Wednesday, the Federal Reserve held ratessteady for the first time since they began cutting in September 2024, citing strong labor markets and dwindling inflation as evidence the economy is on the desired path. That view was bolstered on Thursday, when the Bureau of Economic Analysis estimated U.S. GDP grew by 2.3% in the fourth quarter of 2024, below the consensus forecast but well above the Fed’s long-run growth projection of 1.8% per year.

Check back on Monday, Feb. 10 to see the latest USMTO article to find out how manufacturing technology orders ended 2024 compared to the wider economy.
